Our Founder

Cameron Wilson grew up in Dunedin and when he was given a chance to explore the mountains of the South Island, he discovered a natural talent for skiing—and a totally new perspective on what was possible in his life.

That journey led him to represent New Zealand in alpine ski racing and ultimately sparked a deeper belief: that there are many ways of conquering mountains, and all of them help shape who we become.

Today, Cameron founded the New Zealand Alpine Trust with a clear mission—to pass on to young people, who might never otherwise have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of our mountains. Through these experiences, they gain the confidence, clarity, and courage to shape their own path in life.

Our Impact

We walk alongside our participants before, during, and after their alpine journey. The confidence, resilience, and relationships they gain last a lifetime. These experiences are designed to push them beyond what they thought possible—and build a sense of strength that stays with them.

Success looks like a young adult saying in years to come, “Thank you for opening my eyes, ears and mind to what I am truly capable of."
